Britney v Beyonce
IT was the battle of the pop divas at The O2 this week when Britney Spears and Beyonce Knowles attempted to enrapture London audiences.
Both 27, American and adored by fans, it was a huge week at the arena.
But while goody-goody Beyonce appeased pretty much all fans and critics with her performances, Britney received a much more mixed reception for her show.
For southern gal, mother of two Brit, it was the Circus tour, which saw hordes of school-uniformed-clad girls storm the Jubilee line for the beginning of Britney's eight days of performances.
Critics were not best pleased with her, with many, such as The Telegraph bemoaning her lack of live singing. It said: "She abandons even the pretence of playing live.
"Lip-synched, autotuned and double tracked, her vocals are as unashamedly pre-recorded as her backing tracks."
The Sun even had a go at her dance moves. "Madonna is twice her age and does double the dancing," it sniped.
But Britney's not a rock god or a singing sensation, just a star performing a raunchy stage show.
The Telegraph adds: "It would be churlish to complain she is not singing live when she is being cut in three parts by magicians, or dangling above flames with trapeze artists while engaging in simulated sex acts."
Others such as the Daily Mail were more than impressed with the performance with its reviewer branding it a "Remarkable comeback".
On Tuesday evening, Beyonce - or her stage persona Sasha Fierce - hit the North Greenwich arena.
According to the Mirror she was partying until 5am before The O2 show.
However, it didn't affect her performance according to the majority of critics.
"The super-talented 27-year-old has emphatically raised the bar for what can be done in an arena show," was the gushing view from The Telegraph.
Thelondonpaper was not totally convinced. "When she goes off on her big American ballad thing it's time to visit the loo or buy another pint," it said.
But overall it's a positive response. And Beyonce wins the battle. As The Independent emphatically gushes: "This is an astonishingly high-energy show.
"The ambitious choreography barely grazing her perfect, lung-busting vocals which run from caramel smooth to honeyed foghorn."

I agree with Faris. I had the pleasure of attending one of the four dates Beyonce did at the o2 Arena in London and it was spectaular. Definitely one of, if not thee best concert I've been to. From beginning to end I, along with the other 19, 999 people were entertained, Beyonce sang live, danced and gave us a mixture of all her hits; ballads and up- tempos. I will be going to see her again in November.

For your information Britney Spears' tour is grossing way more money than Beyonce's and it is really successful. I am a fan of both singers and do believe that Beyonce has extreme talent but Britney is a legend. No one can make such a come back after all of that she has gone through. And maybe she is not singing live but that's because it has been a long time since she has been back on stage and doesn't want to risk messing up anything. By the way all of us have heard her sing im not a girl, not yet a woman before, which was completely live, so we know she can actually sing. So I don't think we should be talking trash about her because even though Beyonce has talent, she is making the bigger bucks.
beyonce is better than britney beside that i love the two of them but in my heart britney is number two and beyonce number one and beyonce sings better than britney and also she is dancing better than her and beyonce is a show woman that now how to move and shake her body and beyonce last album is selling more than britney one and remember that beyonce is from the best female groupe of all the time destiny child
britney kills it on stage she puts 100% in all of her performances she may not have beyonces voice but her music is still hot plus shes and puts beyonce to shame and beyonce is so boring!
