COMEDY
Night At The Museum 2 (PG)

Following the fun CGI caper that was Night At The Museum, this sequel - with the additional sobriquet "Battle Of The Smithsonian" - again sees Ben Stiller's hapless nightwatchmen become the unlikely cheerleader for a bunch of re-animated artefacts.

There's promotion in the air as the hero of the original, centred on the Natural History Museum, now upgrades to the world's largest museum - the Smithsonian Institute.
But, don't worry. The heroes of the previous film - Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, a T-Rex - have all made the journey.

Security guard Larry Daley (Stiller) infiltrates the Smithsonian in order to rescue Jedediah and Octavius, who have been shipped to the museum by mistake.

We're told by 20th Century that "the centrepiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet to Dorothy's ruby red slippers."

Indeed Amelia (Amy Adams) comes alive to add a feisty female to the winning mix.

DRAMA
Awaydays (18)

Kevin Sampson's novel Awaydays is brought to the screen, nearly 30 years after the age he evoked.

Set in the post-punk era and in the north west, Awaydays tells the story of Paul Carty (Nicky Bell) who is 19, funny, clever - and bored.

He lives in middle class suburbia with his grieving father and feisty young sister, Molly. He meets Elvis (Liam Boyle) at a football match and Elvis changes everything. He's part of a gang called The Pack.

The Pack is legendary; they dress in a cultish style that's at odds with the Boneheads and Bootboys they fight against. Carty has always been fascinated by The Pack. Now Elvis is offering him a way in...

HORROR
Tormented (15)

School can be hell - full of cliques and conventions and bullying and neuroses and acne. This Britflick brings those horrors alive with a tale of revenge from beyond the grave.

Head girl Justine Fielding (Tuppence Middleton) is wooed and won by In-Crowd hunk Alexis (Dimitri Leonidas) and the world is simply fabulous.

Only Alexis is not the charmer he makes out to be. Turns out he's the ringleader of a bullying gang that drove loser Darren Mullett (Calvin Dean) to kill himself. Only Darren's having none of it. Death has brought out the best in him and he decides to take murderous and brutal revenge on the In-Crowd.
