The Tide Of War
Seth Hunter

Headline Review, £19.99
4/5

"Not adequately restrained by such a challenge, Peake garners more along the way - including encounters with pirates, rebels and the seductive Sabine Delatour."

- The UK has a long maritime tradition. A little behind, but catching up fast, is the UK's maritime literary tradition, a path lined with such naval luminaries as Hornblower and Jack Aubrey.

Author Seth Hunter has already staked a claim for his hero Nathan Peake in The Time Of Terror.

Now the second in the trilogy, The Tide Of War, sees the newly-promoted Captain Nathan Peake sent to the Caribbean to take command of the British navy's latest frigate, the 32-gun Unicorn.

Meanwhile, the French revolutionaries have sent the 44-gun Virginie to spread mayhem in the same location.

The scene is set for an epic duel between the old foes. But, along with the French, Peake must confront the dark past of his new berth - a past containing mutiny and murder.

Not adequately restrained by such a challenge, he garners more along the way - including encounters with pirates, rebels and the seductive Sabine Delatour.

If you like Nelson era naval fiction - and there's a tremendous amount to like - this will float your boat.
