A Jubilee line train travelling to Stratford was searched by police this morning after a report of a man concealing a gun.

Metropolitan Police officers scoured the eastbound train at West Ham following a tip off, but services returned to normal just before noon after no weapon was found.

The alarm was sounded at around 10.30am by a passenger who disembarked at Baker Street. Police liaised with London Underground to determine where the train might be at that stage, and boarded at West Ham station.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "A member of the public told police of a man on board an eastbound Jubilee line train at Finchley Road with what looked like a concealed gun.

"The train was held at West Ham while officers conducted a search. They found no cause for alarm and the train was sent on its way. Control was handed back to London underground at around 11.40am."
