DLR closures to increase by one day

The DLR has extended the partial closure of its service at the end of the month from nine days to 10.
Works to the eastern section from East India were due to begin over the Bank Holiday weekend and carry on until Sunday May 30.
However, the disruptions will now carry on into the Monday causing further problems for Wharf workers.
Jonathan Fox, Director DLR, said: "This closure is essential to carry out complex junction improvements at Canning Town, including the introduction of a flyover bridge.
"We have reluctantly extended the closure to ensure all work is completed and the junction does not cause unnecessary disruption to our passengers in future.
"I would like to say sorry to our passengers for this late notice change and offer my assurances this is the best option on offer. We are publicising this change now to allow people to plan their journeys accordingly."
From May 23 to 29 stations from East India to London City Airport and Prince Regent will be closed.
Then until June 1 this will stretch to closures up until Woolwich and Beckton.
The works are being carried out as part of the Stratford International Extension, which will link Canning Town to the Eurostar hub by next year.

The work has to be done of course and it's not the sort of work that can be done overnight nor (according to the DLR) over the course of a long bank-holiday weekend, but I'm disappointed that there doesn't appear to be any planning for a temporary increase in capacity over the Lewisham section of the DLR to cope with the those who would normally travel to and from Woolwich.
Increase in capacity over the Lewisham section of the DLR? That's far too sensible, the DLR would never allow such common sense to prevail. The DLR did not even increase capacity last weekend when the whole Jubilee Line was suspended and considered it appropriate to run trains to Bank every 10 minutes! The DLR has no regard for passengers whatsoever.
