GIG
Bob Dylan, The O2 arena

David Bowie once described Dylan's voice as "like sand and glue", something rough and sticky.

With time and touring, Bob's vocalisations have, if anything, become more difficult to listen to. But that doesn't necessarily make him a bad performer.

Although he appears to be restricted to a couple of notes per song, his very presence on the stage is oddly captivating.

Despite the oldies sounding only a little like they did on record you'll still find it hard to tear your eyes away and to keep your mouth from singing along to Maggie's Farm and Tombstone Blues.

April 25, 6.30pm, £37.50-£47.50, 0844 856 0202, theo2.co.uk, Jubilee: North Greenwich

GIG
Jose Gonzalez, East Wintergarden

You remember it well. Or at least you do if the ad agency did its job properly.

Thousands of brightly coloured bouncy balls rolling down the hills of San Francisco in a bid to hammer the Sony Bravia brand into your skull.

And behind it Jose Gonzalez's Heartbeats gently wafting on the breeze as the slo-mo colourfest unfolded before your eyes. Afterwards he was everywhere. TV shows, radio shows and intimate gigs.

And now this quiet Swede of Argentine descent is coming to the Wharf to play hits from his two albums Veneer and In Our Nature.

April 29, 7pm, £17, 020 7001 3016, mycanarywharf.co.uk, DLR/Jubilee: Canary Wharf

STAGE
Faustus, The Space

DD-apr23-FaustusWEB.jpg

Faustus is an individual who has despaired of the limits of the mortal world, and longs for everything he has yet to achieve.

Drawing parallels with our everyday obsession with celebrity and mass consumerism, the award-winning Non Stop Cabaret company claims to have created a piece of contemporary and visceral theatre, exploring debauchery, intrigue, obsession, and fascination.

This, the company says, is a Faustus that explores the limits of temptation and lustful desire.

Debauchery and obsession - why wouldn't you attend?

April 24-26, 8pm, £10 (£6), 020 7515 7799, space.org.uk, DLR: Mudchute

TALK
Planet Narnia, National Maritime Museum

DD-apr23-NarniaWEB.jpg

CS Lewis is famous throughout the world for his seven Chronicles of Narnia but he was also a professor of English at the University of Cambridge.

As an academic Lewis was fascinated by the Copernican Revolution, when the old picture of a cosmos which had the Earth at its centre and the planets and the Sun going round it, got replaced by the modern view of the Earth orbiting the Sun.

In this talk Dr Michael Ward, pictured, author of Planet Narnia, examines Lewis' life-long interest in the sky at night and reveals the secret inner meaning to his much-loved series of novels.

April 28, 7pm-8.30pm, £5, 020 8858 4422, nmm.ac.uk, DLR: Cutty Sark
