Fefinanes Albarino
Rias Baixas, Spain, £14.99

"The palate has floral, herbal flavours allied to a textured, pleasantly bitter, mouth feel."

Situated on Spain's Atlantic coast, just above northern Portugal, it is a land of high humidity and abundant rainfall, conditions to which the thick skinned, rot resistant Albarino grape is well adapted.

The grapes for this white wine are grown by some 66 local growers from a patchwork of vineyards in the esteemed "Val do Salnes" area in the north of the region.

The winery itself is small and located inside the ancient cloisters of the Palacio de Fefianes - ideal cool conditions for the fermentation and storage of delicate, aromatic white wines.

The nose is vibrant yet full (peachy, honeyed, steely notes).

The palate has floral, herbal flavours allied to a textured, pleasantly bitter, mouth feel.

Best enjoyed chilled with fish - plain cooked or in buttery sauces.
