East London MP Stephen Timms, pictured, welcomed journalists to the Excel Centre for the London Summit on Thursday morning.

The financial secretary to the treasury, who is also MP for East Ham, said it was a huge boost for the region to host an event which will see an agreement on the world's "biggest fiscal expansion".

He said: "Welcome to east London. We're very pleased in our community to see this event taking place here on what is clearly a very important day."

Timms was speaking at a press conference away from the main discussion this morning.

He said: "We're looking at three areas. How to rebuild momentum in the economy. How to strengthen the system, the rules and structure of regulation.

"And thirdly the reform of the IMF and other financial institutions.

"It's the biggest fiscal expansion the world has even seen."

Timms specifically spoke about the need for agreement on clamping down on tax havens and naming and shaming countries that bring in trade barriers.

He said it was a also a priority to "promote growth in emerging markets and developing countries".

Timms what an absolute wally!

He has no idea on anything and is a bigger Muppet than The Newham Mayor.

Just shut up you fool and hide in the hole you've been digging yourself for the last couple of years.

Sad Sad man that you are.
