Submissions open for Canary Wharf Film Festival

Budding filmmakers could see their creations on screen at the Canary Wharf Film Festival in September.
Organisers began accepting submissions yesterday for the event, which returns for its third year in late 2009.
The Canary Wharf Film Festival launched in 2007 to showcase the best in local and international film in fields such as animation, international and short film. Venues such as Cineworld West India Quay, the Museum of London Docklands, the East Wintergarden and even Trinity Buoy Wharf have hosted screenings in the last two years.
Last year's award winners include Leon Chambers' Stolen Youth (pictured) and Westferry director Robb Ellender's Illusion Dwellers. For full coverage of the 2008 festival, click here.
The Canary Wharf Film Festival is supported by Canary Wharf Group, the UK Film Council and Film London. It runs from September 3 to 7.
Plans for this year include a spotlight on Serbian cinema, workshops, Q&As and and the new Golden Canaries award. Organisers are looking for UK and international shorts under 15 minutes long for the animation, live action, documentary and experimental categories.
The entry fee is £5 before the early deadline of May 13, and £8 before the final deadline of June 24. Go to cwff.org.uk for more details.
