Millwall 0 Colchester United 1

millwall.gifMillwall's Jekyll and Hyde form continued last night when they lost at home to Colchester.

The Lions, who have enjoyed some superb away wins recently thanks to some late goals, were given a dose of their own medicine at The Den when Clive Platt headed home the game's only goal on 84 minutes.

Millwall should have won with Gary Alexander, Jason Price and James Henry all going close.

But some slack defending in the game's closing minutes allowed Platt to head past David Forde from a corner and condemn the Lions to their fifth home defeat in seven games.

It means three more points dropped in the push for automatic promotion but of even more concern to Kenny Jackett, and Millwall fans, was the facial injury suffered by striker Alexander.

He joins Neil Harris on the injury list. With another crucial home game against Walsall on Saturday Jackett is running out of attacking options.

He said: "We hoped to get Gary back on but once our medical people looked at him there was no chance.

"He's in hospital now, I've not had any reports on him yet.

"It leaves us a bit light up front for Walsall on Saturday because I don't think Neil Harris will be fit.

"Izale McLeod isn't, so depending on how it goes with Gary, we have what we finished tonight with for Saturday.

"It was a big game tonight and we lost it but second spot is still open. Things can change over six matches.

"We're third and pleased to be in that position."
