Celebrate St George's Day in style
It's St George's Day today and venues around Docklands are holding special events to celebrate.
The O2 is staging a Shakespeare-themed event this evening, while pubs and restaurants are adding English twists to their menus.
Greenwich Theatre is providing actors to perform some of Shakespeare's finest sonnets around The O2.
Visitors will not be able to miss the actors as they will be reciting their lines atop giant, red and white "St George's Day" shields.
St George's Day is the traditional day of Shakespeare's birthday and this year it coincides with the 400th anniversary of the publication of the Bard's Sonnets, hence the recitals.
The performances are completely free of charge and will run between 6pm and 8pm.
The sequence lasts approximately 25 minutes and will be repeated four times during the two-hour slot. It will also include speeches from Henry V, Richard III and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The bars and restaurants along The O2's Entertainment Avenue will also be joining in the celebrations by offering some fantastic deals.
These include 50 per cent off the "Great British Sausage" at S&M Cafe, any beer just £2 and 20 per cent off your food bill if you carry an English flag into Thai Silk and a St George's Dragon Blood cocktail for £6.50 at Rodizio Rico.
Niccy Hallifax, head of special events and projects at The O2, said: "The Entertainment District within The O2 is always a vibrant and welcoming area for visitors.
"It is an ideal area to hold such activities and a great opportunity to celebrate this significant national day, we are thrilled to be working with Greenwich Theatre to do so."

Closer to Canary Wharf, the City Pride pub is celebrating England's national day with traditional food like fish and chips or sausage and mash for a set price of £4.99.
The Westferry Road hostelry will also be hosting a live band from 7.30pm.
And hearty English appetites will be pleased to hear that Davy's is offering a St George's Day lunch for £14.95.
Diners can enjoy 28-day aged British beef with all the trimmings, washed down with a glass of claret.
