Preview: West Ham v West Bromwich Albion
West Ham go into tonight's game against West Bromwich Albion with the burden of the Carlos Tevez saga finally lifted from them.
The ongoing legal battle brought by Sheffield United against the Hammers over the Argentinian's involvement in the successful relegation battle two years ago has finally been resolved.
The clubs have agreed an out-of-court settlement, believed to be between £10-15million, as compensation for the Yorkshire club's relegation that season.
The Blades had argued Tevez was ineligible to play and an independent hearing ruled in their favour earlier this season.
The Irons had already been fined £5.5million over irregularities in Tevez's registration, that sanction being applied by the Premier League in April 2007.
A Premier League and Football Association inquiry into the conduct of some of West Ham's representatives during the affair began in January and still continues.
But manager Gianfranco Zola will be concentrating on matters on the pitch tonight.
He will be deprived of the services of Carlton Cole, who serves the first of a two-match suspension for his sending off at Wigan.
That means Savio Nsereko could start alongside David Di Michele, while Freddie Sears is also pressing his case for inclusion.
Zola has a number of injury problems.
Jack Collison is ruled out for the next few weeks with a dislocated knee sustained at Wigan, while Valon Behrami will be out for six months with cruciate ligament damage.
James Collins and Kieron Dyer are both still out as they try to regain fitness, while Diego Tristan has had a minor groin operation.
There is an the outside chance that Luis Boa Morte will be fit to be added to the bench after he recovered from injury quicker than expected.
Despite being bottom of the Premier League West Brom are no pushovers and Zola expects a stern test.
He said: "It is not a gimme that is for sure. First of all they are bottom of the league but they are playing well.
"I have seen them play a few times and they play quite good football, they have been very unlucky on a few occasions and maybe conceded some goals they could have avoided.
"They are a team that is alive and we need to respect that."
