Crewe 0 Millwall 1

millwall.gifMillwall maintained their push for automatic promotion with a last gasp win at Crewe.

Debutant Jason Price was the hero as he struck in injury time at the end of the game to snatch all three points.

But the bad news for the Lions was record scorer Neil Harris suffered a broken nose and looks set to miss at least the next two games.

Price, who replaced Harris at the end of the first half, was on hand to poke home the winner after Dave Martin's shot was parried by home keeper John Ruddy.

It was no more than Kenny Jackett's men deserved after they produced a solid performance in difficult weather conditions.

Millwall created the better chances and only poor finishing, ironically from Harris, stopped them from taking a first half lead.

Harris was stretchered off after a clash of heads with Crewe captain Julien Baudet.

Tony Craig, Gary Alexander and Price all came close scoring but it looked as though Millwall would have to settle for a point until Price's late intervention.

Jackett was pleased to keep the pressure up on second placed Peterborough.

He said: "It looked like it was going to be a frustrating game for us because we had some good chances.

"Neil Harris had two in the first half, Gary Alexander fired wide and then Price went close in the second-half.

"Crewe had a couple of good efforts themselves, but we had the better chances and it did begin to look like it was going to pass us by.

"But there was one last chance for us. Dave Martin did ever so well initially and then Price was on hand to fire in the winner.

"I was pleased with his contribution, and my first impressions are that Alexander and Price look quite a good partnership."

Millwall need to pick up three points tomorrow evening when they entertain Colchester at The Den, and with the crucial Easter period coming up - including a home game against Peterborough - they could steal second spot in League One by the end of the season.
