Council meeting put off due to G20 clash

A crucial planning meeting for Islanders has been postponed due to a clash with the G20 summit.
Tower Hamlets Council initially claimed it would proceed with Thursday's Strategic Development Committee meeting, but changed its mind due to concerns over traffic and protester disruption.
Councillors were due to discuss applications such as Glenkerrin's Island Point and Pride developments, the Helix-London in Blackwall and Angel Group's Marsh Wall tower. But Blackwall and Cubitt Town councillor Phil Briscoe was keen to see the meeting postponed to give Isle of Dogs residents an opportunity to attend without difficulty.
Custom House, Prince Regent and Royal Victoria stations will be closed on Thursday as world leaders arrive for high-level talks, and police have warned locals to expect ID checks and delays on the roads.
The council told The Wharf last Monday that the committee would assemble as planned to prevent "inconvenience" to those who had already made plans to attend. But it reportedly reversed its decision late on Monday after further discussion.
It has not yet been confirmed when the re-scheduled meeting will take place, but the date of Wednesday April 15 has been mentioned.

I should bloody well think so! It was absurd to suggest the meeting could go ahead in the first place.
