Charlton were held to a goalless draw against Preston as they inch further towards relegation.

In a game of few chances, Tresor Kandol came closest to breaking the deadlock but his second-half header was pushed over the bar.

Charlton started the match with Kandol playing as a lone forward, and Zheng Zhi and Jonjo Shelvey taking turns to support him.

The Addicks' best chance in the opening exchanges came when Mark Hudson rose to meet a free-kick but his header was off target.

Charlton were dominating the play in midfield with classy trio, Zizi, Shelvey and Therry Racon controlling the game.

However, chances were few and far between against an assertive Preston back four.

In the second half Zizi had a long range shot saved, and for Preston, big striker Jon Parkin missed a couple of good chances.

But it was Kandol who came closest with his late header saved well by Andy Lonerghan.
