Canary Wharf fault hits Jubilee commute

A signal failure at Canary Wharf is causing severe disruption for commuters this morning.
The fault led to the suspension of the Jubilee Line between North Greenwich and Waterloo, forcing workers to cram onto the DLR or seek out a Thames Clipper ferry.
Travellers were also frustrated in their attempts to switch to the DLR, after Bank station was closed due to "overcrowding".
One commuter from North London said: "They weren't letting anyone get off at Bank so I carried on to London Bridge to get the Jubilee line. Then I realised that was closed, and what can you do then? I ended up walking to Tower Gateway, and I was very late into work.
"This exposes the weakness of the entire system. As soon as one line closes the commuter traffic diverts onto the nearest alternative, which is unable to handle it."
Transport for London also reported severe delays on the District Line between Earls Court and Wimbledon due to an Earl's Court signal failure. A further failure at Stratford caused minor delays on the Central line, while the Circle line was disrupted due to an "earlier trespasser on the line at Earl's Court".
A TfL spokesperson said: " Due to a multiple signal failure in the Canary Wharf area, the Jubilee Line was suspended from 9.03am until 10.17am between North Greenwich and Waterloo.
"This suspension caused overcrowding at Bank station as passengers attempted to use the DLR as an alternative service and Bank was closed twice - from 9.06am till 9.23am and from 9.48am to 9.58am - to allow the overcrowding to clear."

What a joke.
No on-train announcements so people piling on to the Jubilee platform at Westminster only to find they can't get to Canary Wharf. No access at Bank because of overcrowding, but no-one thinks to tell passengers before they get off the trains. And of course, big queues at Tower Gateway.
Come on Boris, sort out TfL once and for all.
