Canary Wharf Classic semi-final line-up decided
The action is hotting up in the ISS Canary Wharf Classic with the semi-final line-up now confirmed.
Defending champion James Willstrop and top seed Amr Shabana both went through last night, although in vastly differing circumstances.
Willstrop came through an epic encounter with Spain's Boja Golan, winning 10/12, 2/11, 11/7. 11/9, 11/2 in 91 minutes.
Shabana had less trouble, beating fellow Egyptian Mohamed El Shorbagy 11/5, 11/6, 11/9 in just 35 minutes.
The triple world champion meets Willstrop this evening.
The seeding system has worked perfectly with Gregory Gaultier and David Palmer, second and fourth seeds respectively, also qualifying for tonight's semi-finals.
Limehouse's Peter Barker, perhaps still recovering from his mammoth game against Daryl Selby the night before, succumbed to Gaultier 11/9, 1/8, 11/3.
And Palmer completed the semi-final line-up with 12/10, 4/11, 11/7, 114 win over Wael El Hindi.
Palmer and Gaultier will face each other in the other semi-final.
Tonight's play starts at 6.30pm at the East Wintergarden.
