Alex Zane backs Wharfstock for success

TV star Alex Zane has backed charity festival Wharfstock to provide "something for everyone".
The MTV and Channel 4 presenter will head to the East Wintergarden on Friday to host a night of comedy and music, which is expected to raise more than £20,000 for Comic Relief.
Alex said: "I'm genuinely thrilled to be involved with this project.
"Not only is it raising funds for an extremely worthy cause, it shows what can be achieved when communities collaborate - and there's no better time than now to be championing that.
"Between the live music bands, comedians and circus acts, there really is something for everyone."
Wharfstock was cooked up by four Docklands businessmen in an attempt to replicate the spirit of the '60s Summer of Love festival. And to get the good times rolling, they've rounded up the comedic offerings of Irish Iranian stand-up Patrick Monahan, Canadian Phil Nichol and Barbie Stand Up Show favourites Thea Montgomerie Anderson and Candy Martinez.
Adding to the fun will be a fire show, a drum act and contortionist Delia Du Sol.
Of course, there's also the music, with headliners Longspoon sharing the bill with The Sidewinders, Sweet Thursday, Not Another No Scope, Open Mind, No Quarter and Just Jules.
Co-organiser Dave Jones, of Wood Wharf's Paintball Centre, said: "It's going to be a wicked show.
"If it's a really successful event, we'll be looking to do it again next year."
Tickets for the event are selling fast, and range from £20 to £60 VIP Champagne and supper packages. It runs from 6pm to midnight. Go to ticketweb.co.uk or call 0844 4771000 to book, or see wharfstock.com.
But if you can't wait to sample the flavour of the festival, Jubilee Mall outlet Gourmet Burger Kitchen has created a special Wharfstock burger, with 50p from each purchase going to support the event.
The £7.45 burger features Aberdeen Angus Scotch beef, hot and spicy sauce, sour cream, salad and mayonnaise.
Branch manager Anna Sarba said: "We've created something extra and different, and we're sure people will love it."
