West Ham stars "reddy" for action for Richard House
West Ham's first team squad got into the fundraising spirit at a recent training session at Upton Park to support the Richard House hospice.
England striker Carlton Cole and Portuguese midfielder Luis Boa Morte were among the players donning red shirts to promote the children's home in Beckton.
The hospice is one of West Ham's chosen charities for this season and the club are asking fans to wear something red tomorrow, Friday 13th, to help raise funds for the charity.
Supporters are asked to make £2 minimum donation if they wear anything red, no matter how small.
All proceeds go to Richard House, which provides care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Director of fundraising at Richard House, Melanie Nightingale, said: “This is the second time Richard House have run Wear Red for Richard House. Last year it raised an impressive £10,000.
"This year the target is even more ambitious – £35,000. The sum equates to the annual salary of one of Richard House’s specialty nurses.
“As a charity, Richard House relies on voluntary donations. We can all help by simply giving £2 and wearing red."
The services at Richard House are free of charge and they provide vital care to over 150 children and their families every year.
