The Wizard fancies FA Cup form
Nigel Seeley - The Wizard of Odds - picks his selections from this week's sporting action with the FA Cup taking centre stage on where to place your bets.
Last week was finally the first winning weekend for Place Your Bets followers in 2009.
We didn't get the bad weather predicted but we still got two nice singles and a double-up, rewarding us with a small profit.
The last 10 minutes of the England rugby match and the clash between Wales and Scotland at Murrayfield were very nervy but a winner is a winner.
This weekend Martin Johnson's below-par England travel to Wales to face the in-form Grand Slam champions.
Bookmakers rate England eight point underdogs for the match, the biggest start they have received in Six Nations rugby for 10 years.
Even at such a big handicap it's impossible to make a case and my conclusion is the bookies have it about right and no bet is strongly recommended.
In the other games Ireland travel to Italy as 10 point favourites and Scotland face France in Paris as 14 point outsiders. Again the bookies look to have called both correctly.
The FA Cup gets down to the business end this weekend with the fifth round ties.
It may be Valentine's Day on Saturday but there will be no love lost between Swansea and Fulham when they meet at the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans are keen to emulate Cardiff's run to the final last season and will be aiming to claim another Premier League scalp after knocking out Cup holders Portsmouth in the last round.
The Championship side are bang in form and are unbeaten in 15 matches, with five wins in the last six.
Fulham are still to win on the road in the Premier League despite winning twice away from home in the Cup.
Their main problem has been their lack of firepower, with only two goals scored in their last 10 away games. Swansea are scoring goals for fun and at 13/8 they look to be good things to win.
Saturday's other FA Cup game sees West Ham entertain Middlesbrough at Upton Park. The Hammers have won their last six home matches against Boro and are bang in form despite last Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Manchester United.
Carlton Cole looked a handful for United and could have a field day against Middlesbrough, who have not won in 12 league games.
The odds on a West Ham victory may not inspire all at 8/11 but they must be the bankers in all weekend accumulators.
On Sunday two of the Premier League's in-form sides clash when Aston Villa travel to Everton. Both will believe victory could give them the chance to get to Wembley.
With so much at stake I expect a tight game. Everton matches have failed to produce more than two goals in 10 of their last 12 outings and Villa games have failed to produce three goals in four of their last six.
A recent look at fixtures between the sides shows a flurry of goalmouth action but I believe the trend will change and under three goals is a serious wager at 4/5.
Running Total: -£235
Suggested bets:
£20 on Swansea to beat Fulham @ 13/8
£55 on West Ham to beat Middlesbrough at 8/11
£50 on under 2.5 goals between Everton and Villa at 4/5
