Hero Harris hails his "emotional week"
Millwall striker Neil Harris has been on a high since writing his name into the club's record books this week.
The 31-year-old broke Teddy Sheringham's goalscoring record when he notched his 112th strike for the Lions in Tuesday night's FA Cup replay win over Crewe.
And in an exclusive interview Harris told The Wharf he has not yet come down to earth after claiming the record.
He said: "I feel absolutely fantastic. I feel really good and I've been on a high ever since.
"I'm immensely proud to have written my name into the club's history. It's just been a week of unbelievable emotion for me and my family."
Harris's big moment arrived in the 54th minute of the 3-2 win at Gresty Road, when he used all his poacher's instincts to poke the ball home from two yards out.
"It was the most important goal of my career," he said.
"It wasn't my best but as I tell the younger players all goals are good goals. Scoring goals is the hardest thing in football so to break the record gives me immense satisfaction.
"I've scored some good goals, some nice looking ones, but this one is up there with them."
HIs achievement will be acknowledged by the club before tomorrow's home game with Tranmere but the ever-professional Harris will be keeping his mind focused on the game.
He said: "There will be some sort of presentation by the club before the game and it will be a proud moment for me.
"But, and I know it's a cliche, I'll just be concentrating on what's happening on the pitch. And if I score it will just cap a fantastic week."
