Faubert joins Real Madrid
West Ham midfielder Julien Faubert has joined Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season.
The Frenchman signed a deal with the Spanish giants today, with the Hammers receiving a £1.5million fee for the player.
Faubert could earn himself a permanent contract at the Bernabeu if he can reproduce the form that persuaded the Irons to pay £6.1million for him 18 months ago.
And that would net West Ham a further £6million on a player who has failed to impress during an injury ravaged spell at Upton Park.
Faubert, who has one full French cap to his name, ruptured an achilles during a pre-season tour to Austria shortly after he signed in July 2006 and never settled in London.
He has looked short of confidence when he has played this season, often being used as a stand-in right-back, so the move to Madrid will surprise many Hammers fans.
The 25-year-old has made a total of 32 appearances for the Irons but scored no goals.
