Darts hit the mark for the Wizard of Odds
Nigel Seeley - the Wizard of Odds - picks his best bets for the week ahead.
We didn't get off to the best of starts in 2009. In fact we couldn't have done much worse, although we were a little bit unlucky, especially with our FA Cup selection between Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham.
Having backed under three goals in the match, Andrew Johnson netted a 90th minute winner for the Cottagers to take them through. But what goes around comes around and this will be our week.
Odds-on shorts don't really inspire the average punter but they do give you the best edge when it comes to getting the better of the old enemy, the bookies.
This week's headline selection is on Everton at odds-on 4/6 when they entertain Hull City at Goodison.
Hull started the campaign in great form, topping the Premier League table, while Everton struggled but in recent weeks their fortunes couldn't be different.
Everton have risen to sixth in the table after three straight wins and just one defeat in their last six matches.
Hull on the other hand have slid to eighth in the table, just seven points off the relegation zone, with just one win in their last 12 matches.
This is the first serious test of Phil Brown's management and the Tigers are just rated 4/1 to go straight back down.
The two teams shared the spoils earlier in the season and you have to go back to 1953 to find the last time Hull beat the Toffees, so the omens look good.
The price might put a few punters off but if you are not tempted by the 4/6 in a single make sure they are the bankers in all-weekend accumulators.
Celebrity Big Brother returned to our screens last weekend and the usual array of dross will be on our TV screens for three whole weeks.
With such a bunch of z-listers the true stars of the show will be the ones we are most intrigued about.
We all know Ulrika Jonsson has four kids from four fathers, Lucy Pinder takes her kit off, but what do we know about Mini-Me star Verne Troyer? And La Toya Jackson? Is she Michael in disguise?
The public will be fascinated watching little Verne taking part in the trials and seeing the wacky side of La Toya.
That is why these two make great bets at 2/1 & 10/1 respectively, and they have a personality.
Phil Taylor was crowned PDC World Darts Champion last weekend for a record breaking 14th time. This week the poor-man's version of the title, the BDO, continues and the man to be on is Gary Anderson.
Anderson may not be a household name but he is as dominant in the BDO as Taylor is in the PDC. But despite that he is freely available with the bookies at 11/4 to win the World title on Sunday.
He has promised much at the Lakeside before but delivered very little. He is always in danger in the early rounds due to the short format but he has safely negioated his way through to the last 16 amd the longer games will suit him.
