A row over allocated parking spaces led to a 59-year-old van driver being punched and kicked to the ground.

The incident took place at around 6pm on Saturday (January 17) when the victim attempted to park in an allocated space in Wapping's West Gardens.

He discovered two men were sitting in a car in the space, and moved into another allocated space alongside the van when asked. When the victim pointed this out, one suspect got out of the car and punched him in the face, while the other pushed him over. The first man then kicked him and stamped on his head, chest and ribs.

The second man pulled his companion away, and they drove off south along Garnet Street.

The van driver was treated at an East London hospital for a fractured right cheekbone and bruising to the face and ribs, but has since been discharged.

He describes the vehicle as a Vauxhall, possibly a dark blue Astra.

A bogus water board official robbed an 83-year-old woman of her jewellery in a distraction burglary in Carbis Road.

The suspect visited the victim's home at around 11.36am on Saturday (January 17) and stated he needed to look at her water main. Once he was inside, the victim realised he was not genuine and confronted him, but he managed to make off with a quantity of jewellery.

Police are looking for three suspects, all of whom are white males aged 25 and 5'6 tall. Two were wearing dark jackets while a third had short hair and a light grey jacket.
