Both DLR and Tube workers have agreed to hold industrial action over Christmas and in the new year.

Control room staff at Poplar DLR voted 20 to two for action short of a strike, which will see them work strictly according to procedures and refusing any overtime from January 5.

The action comes about because members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union are complaining against the imposition of new rosters.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "Our members have made quite clear what they think about Serco Docklands' unacceptable attack on their working conditions and work-life balance."

Meanwhile, workers responsible for fault-finding and maintaining the electrical supply on London Underground will go on strike for 48 hours from Christmas Day.

The RMT is claiming equal pay for about 25 workers.

My partner works in the DLR control room and has my full support for strike. this roster change not only has him working 24 more days a year but only gives him 8 full weekends off a year. he also has to work 8 and 9 consecutive full of part weekends. this leaves him next to no time to spend with me and our child. the reasons behind the roster change are financial, not safety related.
