The elegant, less-showy Champagne

Wine of the Week, with Bernard Wilkes
“In victory you deserve it, in defeat you need it – so said Napoleon.
Whatever your mood, this is a Champagne to suit you – and your wallet and purse.
Duval-Leroy was established in 1859 in Vertus, in the Cotes De Blancs, the premium growing region for white Chardonnay grapes in Champagne.
Unusually for a non-vintage Champagne in the UK, it is the Chardonnay grapes from various Premier Cru vineyards that form the core of the blend for Fleur De Champagne.
The result is a more elegant, less showy style of Champagne that ages well and makes a great accompaniment to fish and seafood, as well as making an excellent base for a Kir Royale (Champagne and Cassis liqueur).
The nose is reminiscent of ripe apples with delicate, tropical confectionery notes.
The palate is creamy with spicy mineral undertones. Uncork and unwind.
Champagne Duval- Leroy, Fleur De Champagne, France. This Champagne is normally £25.99, but for one week only (until December 2) it is £12.99.
