Spector keen for more West Ham action
Jonathan Spector made a return to first team action for West Ham in Saturday's 2-10 over Stoke and the American international is eager for more.
Spector, who turns 23 next Saturday, came on as an 89th minute subsitute, his first appearance since April after being ruled out with a serious hip injury for most of this season.
And the former Manchester United and Charlton defender is keen to stake a claim to a regular spot in the side, starting with this Saturday's FA Cup clash with Barnsley.
He said: "We'll have to see what happens. There are some good players here so I'm just happy to be getting back into things now but certainly in the long run I intend to be a mainstay in the team.
"It's always frustrating whenever you are out, whether it's for a week or eight months, like I've been, but I'm just happy to be back to playing now.
"After all the hard work and rehabilitation it's nice to be back playing and most importantly getting the three points because it puts us in a good position going into the New Year."
His late appearance against Stoke came on the back of two run-outs for the reserves and things have changed a bit since since his last senior game, with Alan Curbishley's departure and Gianfranco Zola's arrival.
But Spector is taking it all in his stride and is positive about the Hammers' prospects.
He said: "There have been a lot of changes, a new manager and a lot of new players coming in but there's been some good changes here.
"We've been playing well but results haven't been going our way, which is a bit unfortunate. But hopefully things will start changing for us now."
