It may not feel like it but according to one millionaire investor, now is the time to build a property portfolio.

Nottingham-based Rhett Lewis is heading to the capital on November 22 to give a seminar on the key to property riches.

He has built up an empire of 170 housing investments and will be giving tips on how to take advantage of the recent drop in the market.

Rhett said: “This is a great time to invest in property provided you invest correctly.

"There are some incredible bargains to be had and we can tell investors how to source up to 30 and 40 per cent below the market value.

“By picking up properties so far below market value, investors are insuring themselves against any further downturn and helping to ensure their investments are cash flow positive.

“When you compare property to other forms of investments such as shares, it’s clear to me that property is still the best way to invest.

The 32-year-old pointed out that while the FTSE 100 has fallen 20 per cent below 1998 levels, average property prices are 244 per cent above that of 10 years ago.

Rhett says his career choice has allowed him to build up a steady income.

He said: “What excites me is the cash flow the properties give me each month, which is more than £10,000.

“It means I could stop working tomorrow and go lie on a beach if I wanted to. But I’m not quite ready for that yet.

“I plan to become a billionaire through property investments and I will help anyone to achieve similar success.

Australian-born Rhett bought his first property at 18 from money earned as a professional footballer.

When his career was cut short by injury he began coaching and worked at Watford, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest before deciding to focus his attention on property.

He said: “I’m actually a lazy person. I’d much rather do something once and profit from it, than have to keep working, so this is ideal.

Tips in the seminar, which is for those already in property investment and those just looking to start out, range from how to source cheap properties, to the best way of borrowing.
