Sexual assault on Tube - police appeal
A Canary Wharf commuter was the victim of a sexual assault as she travelled to work earlier this month.
The 30-year-old woman was travelling on an eastbound Jubilee line train at around 8.10am on Thursday, November 6, when a man indecently touched her as the train approached Canary Wharf.
The male suspect is white, 5ft11ins/ 6ft in height, aged in his mid- 30s, strawberry blonde coloured goatee beard and brownish/ginger coloured shaved/balding hair.
He was smartly dressed and wearing a knee-length camel-coloured coat.
Investigating officer PC Claire Sheals of the British Transport Police, said: "This incident was very distressing for the victim. Offensive behaviour like this causes people to feel unsafe in what is actually a very safe environment and will not be tolerated by British Transport Police.
"We are working to trace witnesses and ask anyone with any information to come forward and talk to us.
"We are continuing local enquiries and we are also asking for help from any members of the public who may have information that can assist our investigation."
Anyone who was on an eastbound Jubilee Line train between Westminster and Canary Wharf between 8.10am and 08:45 am on that day, the morning after Bonfire night, or who may have any information should contact the BTP free on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident B2 of 26/11/08, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
