With eight films already sitting on video store shelves around the world, surely you’d think the Hellraiser barrel has been well and truly scraped.

But you’d be wrong, poor naive reader.

Strong indications are coming out of Tinseltown that Martyrs director Pascal Laugier could drag a remake of the first Pinhead movie out of development hell.

The flesh-tearing gore of the original is still wince-worthy more than two decades on, so another “re-imagining appears pointless. But like the sadistic Pinhead himself, Hollywood never passes up a chance to flog something repeatedly.

Anyone for Kool-Aid? Fox Searchlight is thirsty for ’60s excess, and reckons that Tom Wolfe’s 1968 novel The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is the only thing worth guzzling.

Drugstore Cowboy, Good Will Hunting and (ahem) Psycho helmer Gus Van Sant is apparently on board to help adapt the cult drug novel, which followed One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest writer Ken Kesey around the States in a psychedelic bus.

Iron Man Robert Downey Jr is reportedly all go for the Avengers movie in 2011.

The actor will appear in Marvel’s long-awaited superhero casserole, which will feature Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and The Hulk.

Downey Jr is lined up to star in a further two Iron Man films after the franchise’s successful launch this summer.
