Jim Fitzpatrick - on remembering
Jim Fitzpatrick is the Labout MP for Poplar and Canning Town

This weekend we’ll have Remembrance Sunday. There are ceremonies all over the country.
I’ll be marching with the Poplar British Legion, from Arcadia Street at 10.30am, to the memorial in St Leonard’s Road, for the open-air service at 11am.
If you’re around that area, do please join us. The 444 Air Cadet Squadron band will be leading the parade.
Poppy sellers will be around the Wharf all week and, notwithstanding the difficult economic times, I know Wharfers, residents and commuters will be as generous as they can be.
My wife, Sheila, and I should be on poppy duty this week, from 7am until 8am at Canary Wharf Station.
I stayed as transport minister after the recent reshuffle.
Given our dependency on good transport links this, I believe, is helpful to my constituents, as well as the Wharf.
The DLR is experiencing challenges in adapting to three-car operation, and I’m helping constituents for whom it presents real problems.
Canary Wharf has some young Bangladeshi football visitors this week.
I played footy with them at Christmas, and I hope they enjoy their visit, including to West Ham United, the Beckham Academy and Wembley.
Finally, the State Opening is on December 3.
If it whets your appetite to visit the Houses of Parliament, and if you are a constituent or do voluntary work in the area, do let me know.
I do regular tours on Monday and Friday mornings.
You can reach me on fitzpatrickj@parliament.uk.
