A West India Quay drinker was "covered in blood" after being hit by a hurled glass object during a bar fight.

Police were called after a scuffle broke out near the bar area at Bar 38 on Friday night. The 25-year-old victim suffered a cut to the eyebrow.

The Sidcup man was with friends at the far side of the bar at the top of the stairs when a fight broke out around ten feet away at around 10.25pm. He told police a "glass object" suddenly flew over and hit him on the head, leaving him covered in blood.

Bar 38 staff and security acted quickly to stop the music and put the main lights on, but the group fled out of the main doors. At this point, a 32-year-old man from SE16 was struck in the head and knocked to the floor, causing a cut to his forehead and grazing to the right side of his face. It is not known whether this was deliberate or a result of the suspects leaving the scene.

Both victims were treated at an East London Hospital, but were not detained overnight.

Anyone with any information asked to contact DC Alexander Head in the Violent Crime Unit on 0207 275 4546 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

"Bar 38 staff and security acted quickly to stop the music and put the main lights on". How about stopping the fight rather than making it easier to see and hear it?
