Docklands councillors have delivered a petition to the Prime Minister to save Limehouse Police Station.

Conservatives Tim Archer and Peter Golds of Blackwall and Cubitt Town took the letter, which contained 1,260 signatures from local residents, to Downing Street.

The station is under threat after proposals by the Metropolitan Police Authority to close a number of bases.

Cllr Archer said: "It is an outrage that anybody is even thinking about closing Limehouse Police Station - we need more police and more police stations, not fewer."
