Civil service strike called off

A planned walkout by 200,000 civil servants has been suspended as officials head back to the table.
Union bosses have delayed strike action until December to allow further talks to take place in a dispute over low pay.
The Public and Commercial Services Union was due to lead employees out on a 24-hour strike on Monday. The action was due to hit services such as job centres, driving test centres and benefit offices.
Strikers were also due to gather in the morning outside Exchange Tower in Marsh Wall. But PCS representatives announced on Friday afternoon that the strike would be suspended for 28 days following constructive talks between the two parties.
