Celebrity jungle is a safe bet
Nigel Seeley - the Wizard of Odds - picks rugby and bug eating celebrities for the top odds this week if you fancy a bet.
"CALL a copper there has been a robbery."
That was the scream from the Wizard's front room after we failed to land a 3/1 double last week.
On Saturday we finally got rid of singing pool cleaner Daniel Evans from X-Factor and on Sunday I thought we had the readies in the bag with John Sergeant's performance.
But no, the public voted the stumbling dancer through yet again.
This week he is odds-on at 8/13 to go, but the series has become a mockery and odds of just 14/1 to win the show reflect that. It's simply too dangerous to have a bet.
I'm a massive fan of reality TV and show of the lot returned last week - I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
My main ambition in life is to get the Wizard in the jungle but my stints on Bloomberg and Setanta Sports didn't give me enough celebity status - until now.
Some ex-copper and a glamour model who looks like Phil Mitchell's ex are in, so I'm packing my waterproofs for next year.
This year's offering is poor but one person stands out like a sore thumb, ex-EastEnders star Joe Swash.
Swash has a big advantage as people actually know who he is. He has been a regular on EastEnders for two years with eight million watching every week. Compare that to Kilroy, Danni Behr, Esther Rantzen, glamour model, Joe Cole's missus and some bloke from Star Trek.
Swash has taken to the jungle like Pat Butcher to cream cakes and will already have a huge fan base. He looks the obvious choice at odds of 2/1 and I'm going to have my biggest bet in two years on him.
Cheeky chappies have a good record in the jungle, Phil Tufnell won it as did Matt Willis (from Busted). In a very weak field Swash looks a good thing.
It's a big weekend of rugby internationals this weekend with England facing South Africa at Twickenham.
England looked in disarray losing 28-14 to Australia last week and manager Martin Johnson has serious work to do if they are to be a match for the world champions.
Saturday marks five years ago to the day since England lifted the World Cup but with Danny Ciprani looking out of form, and more interested in being on the front pages than the back pages, the evens about a South African victory look appealing.
But the South Africans have had a poor tour despite winning both their matches and defences will be on top. With Arctic weather predited this weekend points could be at a premium, so bet on the match producing under 45 points at even money in what promises to be a dour encounter.
The best Premier League bet this weekend is the releagtion six-pointer at the Britannia Stadium between Stoke and West Brom.
Stoke have been almost as good as Hull in what they have achieved this term, but their in-your-face style doesn't get the plaudits they deserve. At 5/4 they are good to beat a West Brom side trying to play its way out of the relegation zone.
But West Brom haven't won at Stoke in 18 matches since 1985 so get on the Potters.
Running total: -£66.25
