A godsend for beer lovers

God Lager – the divine beer from Sweden has arrived in the UK. The award- winning ‘dark’ lager is produced in one of the most well-respected breweries in Scandinavia, The Nils Oscar Micro-brewery.
It is available from Waitrose, £1.49. Prepare to be converted.
Farfalle pasta, Tuscan sausage, porcini and Roman steak are just some of the winning ingredients on the new winter menu at Zizzi. And to ensure the credit crunch doesn’t take the warmth out of winter dining, all main courses are now under £10.
New dishes include Seabass Pacchetto, Agnello al Forno and Risotto Al Funghi.
Head chef Angelo Garofalo explains the inspiration for the comfort food menu: “Italian food is all about fantastic ingredients, simply prepared that shouldn’t cost the earth. If you start with great food, a great dish can be created and that is what we believe in.�
Sticking with winter warmers Ha Ha Bar & Grill has just launched its new autumn/winter menu with a mix of new dishes and returning seasonal classics.
Joining the menu are some wintry wonders such as a rich and creamy baked camembert to share, and a butternut squash, blue cheese and walnut risotto.
While several British winter pudding favourites return including rhubarb and bramley apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding, pictured, and a new, exciting modern twist to a traditional 1970’s classic dessert, the black forest gateau.
To help beat the credit crunch, the Slug And Lettuce on Mackenzie Walk is hosting three weekly specials. Happy Mondays offers 50 per cent off food all day every Monday.
Fine Wine Wednesdays sees all wines (except Champagne) for £9.95 on a Wednesday. While Champagne Fridays sees a bottle of Duval-Leroy at £20, Piper Heidsieck Brut at £30 and Piper Heidsieck Rosé for £40 all day on Fridays.
