Wetherspoons Beer Festival begins
Banish those blues by browsing some of the finest beers from around the world at an 18-day festival starting today.
Beers from Australia, Denmark, USA, Poland, Belgium and Japan will be among 50 available to try at the Wetherspoons pub in the Ledger Building on West India Quay.
And with beer priced from a recession-busting £2.09 a pint drinkers can enjoy the cask-conditioned ale without breaking the bank.
Customers can also to test any three beers in special "third-of-a-pint" glasses for the price of a pint before settling on their favourite. The pub will also be serving limited-edition craft ciders from America.
Duty manager Paul Cameron said: "The festival is a great opportunity for us to introduce new beers to people who already enjoy beer and also a chance for people who don't normally drink it to see what beer is all about.
"I'm really looking forward to it, especially trying things like the California Pale Ale which is really special.
"It promises to be great fun and I am certain that customers will enjoy themselves."
Tasting notes on all the beers wil be available at the pub throughout the event.
The festival runs until Sunday, November 16.

I'm looking forward to going!
They had a Polish Plum beer at the last festival and it's returned for this one. A must to try.

I visited the Spoons in Paignton yesterday. They also have `try three 1/3rds for the price of a festival pint` at £1.85 - what a bargain! However, the beer was not dispensed through the standard hand pulls, but by electronic means with the use of gas which apparently does not go into the beer. Is this the usual practice at Wetherspoons?qipmnt
