People hit by job losses around Canary Wharf are being targeted by the organisers of a self-help show.

Scott Solder and Mark Palmer will be hosting the event for those recently made redundant or those fearing the worst.

The duo, who formerly worked in radio at the BBC and LBC, use a host of techniques to help people trapped by credit crunch fear.

Scott, 39, said: “We’re targeting those who have lost their jobs in the banking sector of which there are a fair few at Canary Wharf.
“It’s called **** I’ve Just Lost My Job (Or I Might) and is for anyone out of work, at risk of redundancy, or those worried about the credit crunch.
“A lot of people go into spirals of fear and they feel trapped, be it mortgage, kids or just paying the bills. This is to help them escape that.

Scott and Mark, who were trained by Paul McKenna, focus on aspects including body language and rapport skills, as well as persuasive language patterns, in the two-day event.

Scott said: “It’s not the Californian nonsense of getting you into a room and hugging this is the English way with a more English attitude.

A Canary Wharf poster campaign for the shows will begin in November at bars such as the Slug and Lettuce at Reuters Plaza.

The event takes place at the Royal Institute of Great Britain in Mayfair on December 2 and 3.

Scott, who was born in Whitechapel and grew up in the east end of London, said the event is a “48-hour fix because it works overnight as well as during the sessions.

He said: “Some of the learning is done consciously while other bits work while you sleep.
“This is done by planting learning in people’s heads and it works subconsciously overnight.

The event will be followed by another called Last Man Standing to help men become more confident when talking to women. It will be held at Bar Soho in Old Compton Street on December 4 and 5.

Scott said: “It’s about chatting women up.
“It’s for blokes who get tongue-tied when going up to women or others who think they are players and want more techniques.

Both two day shows cost £295 per person.
