Trebles all round for betting fans
The Wizard of Odds - Nigel Seeley - is on holiday but his apprentice, Mick Maccumulator, gives the lowdown in his place.
Despite a tough time of late things are looking up with Del Potro and Roddick cruising into the third round of the Paris Masters for our each way wagers.
Both players need to perform in the latter stages of the satellite tournament in order to book their tickets to Shanghai and the big bucks at the end of season Masters’ Cup showcase.
The Halloween weekend brings with it a mouth-watering array of sporting events: the climax of the Formula One season, the Rugby League World Cup and the biggest prize ever offered in team sport – the finale of the Stanford 20/20 cup. I can’t promise the riches Sir Allen Stanford has put on show, but I’ll do my best to boost your bank balance.
Last weekend saw the start of the Stanford 20/20 and, to be honest, it has been a huge disappointment. England just managed to scrape past both Middlesex and Trinidad & Tobago, and in both games they failed to capitalise with the bat.
With that amount of prize money up for grabs, a tired-looking pitch, poor lighting, slow outfield and Sir Allen sitting with the players’ wives, who could blame them for looking a bit nervous. At 5/4 the Stanford Superstars on home turf are a good bet.
Saturday sees England take on home nation Australia in the Rugby League World Cup.
Some commentators have already written off England after a lacklustre performance against Papa New Guinea. This game should be a prelude to the final, with England improving and troubling the Australians.
There is no value in backing the Kangaroos to the win the tournament outright, but Australia to beat England in the final at 5/4 is a cracking price. My heart wants England to win in both competitions but my money is on the opposition.
This weekend also sees a full football fixture list and an excellent opportunity for a cheeky Premier League treble to line your pockets. I recommend an Arsenal, Everton, Manchester City treble that should price up around the 5/1 mark.
As the temperature plummets along with our running total here are the selections that will brighten up your weekend.
