steedsWEB.jpgMICKY Steeds failed in his bid to win the vacant British cruiserweight title last night.

The Isle of Dogs boxer was beaten by veteran Rob Norton on a unanimous points decision in Burton-on-Trent.

Norton, 36, was in charge for much of the fight, rarely allowing Steeds, 11 years his junior, to land any scoring punches.

The judges scored it 119-108, 118-110 and 118-109 in favour of Norton.

For Steeds it was the second time a fight for a British title had ended in defeat, having lost a heavyweight bout against Scott Gammer two years ago.

The 25-year-old, who has only fought in the cruiserweight division since the start of last year, will now consider his options.
