AS anyone with a passing knowledge of sleuthing will remember, Dr Watson is the learned sidekick of Sherlock Holmes, known for his pin-up looks and romantic trysts with models and actresses.

Wait. What?

Yep, it seems Guy Ritchie’s planned reboot of the Holmester has taken another pop-cultural turn, as Jude Law prepares to provide doctoral wisdom to Robert Downey Jr’s detective.

Ritchie has promised an all-action caper, so there’s no chance of offending Conan Doyle purists at all...

Lock up your picnics – Yogi Bear may be heading for the big screen.

Although it doesn’t seem like time has been kind to the bear and his boy, Warner Brothers seem quite happy to push ahead with a live action/CGI movie of the Hanna-Barbera icon.

Clearly they’ve been swayed by the rapturous critical applause for the Scooby Doo franchise, which was widely credited with the freak boredom outbreak that swept through the United States in 2002.

Pandas will apparently be comin’ atcha in 2011 – in 3D.

Thanks to the $600million haul collected worldwide by Kung Fu Panda this year, DreamWorks is planning to re-unite Jack Black and Angelina Jolie for a pop-out, animated sequel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, there’s no word on the plot yet. We hope they find one before it hits cinemas.
