The Government continues to do all it can to stabilise our economy. However, world-wide winds continue to blow.

Constituents with savings in Icelandic banks, Northern Rock and elsewhere have been in touch. We’re keeping them posted with developments and assurances.

The House is back, another session has begun or rather is ending.

All the business from last year’s Queen’s Speech – the programme – needs to be completed within a few weeks.

This year’s State Opening is on December 3. Another reshuffle, another wait to see if the PM wants me to continue.

At the Ministry of Transport, of four Ministers, one left, one was transferred, one sacked and this one survived.

This week I helped judge a painting and photographic competition on the theme of environment, run by Canary Wharf Group.

One of my fellow judges was Giles Broadbent editor of The Wharf. Have a look at Page 3 to find out who won.

Perhaps I’ve picked just the right time to get back into cycling. Not only is it green, but it also rivals walking around the constituency when it comes to being visible and accessible.

If you’re looking for Olympic medal-winning Lycra, you might be disappointed, though. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to Bikeworks at Gun Wharf, where I bought my new bike recently.

The shop’s mission statement is: “Inclusive cycling for all, encouraging the health and wellbeing of everybody in the community we live in. It’s fantastic.
