A look at the latest fitness classes, health events and products which can be found in and around the Wharf.

Looking to find healthy activities for children or are interested in the latest fitness-based strategy for beating the credit crunch through exercise.

  • Gymboree, the play and music specialist for babies and children, has launched two new classes in Canary Wharf.
  • Its music class, which teaches the musical building blocks of rhythm, beat, tempo and melody through play, will run in the Museum Of London Docklands.

While its fun teacher-led gym class will be held at Westferry Studios, offering a range of age appropriate activities using custom apparatus and props.

Designed for the under fives, Gymboree encourages development through play and learning.

It follows a seven-level program from baby play to music and gym classes designed to support a child’s growth at their own pace.

From sensory stimulation to problem-solving games and storytelling, classes use play-based activities to stretch the body and mind.

Gymboree owner Michelle Mason says: “Our fun and engaging Baby Play classes have been designed to stimulate the senses and help your baby develop by including sensory exploration and physical activities.

"While our gym and music classes are theme-based and full of exciting props including scarves, balls, musical instruments, light shows and bubbles.

"Our activities are all set to music including songs from Gymboree and from various musical genres.

  • With billions already lost each year due to stress-related absenteeism it doesn’t take a Hercule Poirot to work out that in this current economic meltdown that figure is likely to explode.
  • With that in mind alternative health company EnergiseYou has set up a new series of wellbeing services to help combat the problem.

Workstation assessments, workplace yoga and nutritional advice will be added to its on-site chair massage service – already used by Canary Wharf-based clients such as HSBC, State Street Global Advisors, First Rate and Reebok Sports Club.

Managing director of EnergiseYou Oliver Gray says: “Our new services focus on the prevention and treatment of major workplace issues, which cost British business billions of pounds each year.

"There is no doubt that a mentally and physically fit workforce will perform better and be more productive than one plagued by illness.
