CHARLTON will go into this weekend’s game looking to avenge the defeat inflicted by Wolves at The Valley at the end of last season.

Karl Henry scored Wolves’ last minute winner just after Leroy Lita had equalised as the clock struck 90 minutes.

Wolves went on to qualify for the playoffs, whereas the Addicks’ season tailed off, a fact that hasn’t escaped manager Alan Pardew.

He said: “I think it was a defining moment in our season last year. It was a real kick in the teeth for us and one of the reasons our season petered out.”

Charlton will face last season’s top scorer Chris Iwelumo, who joined Mick McCarthy’s side at the end of last season as a part of the money-saving measures at The Valley.

Pardew added: “I think Chris was aware that we had to make cuts so I don’t think he’ll have a point to prove. It was a good move for him.

“Of all the people I’ve encountered in the game as a person he’s right up the top of the list. He’s a fantastic person and I just hope he doesn’t play well on Saturday."

Pardew welcomes Zheng Zhi and Lloyd Sam back into the squad but the game will come too soon for the on-loan Linvoy Primus.

Pardew said: “Linvoy’s had two games and we feel he’s perhaps shy of where he should be. John Fortune’s been terrific, though, so makes no bones about it he’ll be starting on Saturday.
