WHO will get your vote for the top movie at this year’s Canary Wharf Film Festival?

Visitors to the event will have the chance to nominate their favourite 2008 entrant for the People’s Choice award. The winner will be announced during the awards night at Canary Wharf’s East Wintergarden on September 1.

Tickets for the event are available for £8, including a drink and canapes.

The ceremony will recognise the best of the 52 shorts featured, which include documentaries, music videos and animations from the UK and abroad.

The festival, now in its second year, kicks off on Thursday August 28 with screenings held at the Museum in Docklands, the East Wintergarden and Cineworld West India Quay over the next four days.

Highlights include Hackney music video director Price James answering questions at the East Wintergarden from 7.30pm on Thursday, and East End film-maker William Raban will be appearing for a question and answer session at Cineworld from 4.30pm on Saturday.

Saturday’s programme will also feature a screening of a documentary shot over two days in the Wharf last weekend.

Young east Londoners were charged with uncovering the creative and commercial aspects of the estate and filmed their own take on the area. One of the team will receive a special achievement award during the awards night.

London-based portrait photographer Francisco Serrano’s exhibition Maybe We Are All Stars is also still showing opposite Waitrose in Canada Square Mall.

Festival organisers are offering the chance to win a meal for two at the Plateau restaurant in Canada Square. To enter email enquiries@cwff.org.uk before September 1 with your contact details and the answer to: What film does Plateau appear in?
