Elderly woman stabbed on Island

AN ELDERLY woman has been stabbed to death in a house in the Isle of Dogs.

The 70-year-old was found dead at an address in Byng Street late on Tuesday night. Four people have since been arrested in connection with the attack.

Police officers and London Ambulance Service crews flocked to the scene at 10.30pm, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three men and one woman are being held in custody at separate East London and City of London police stations.

A post-mortem held on Wednesday at Poplar Mortuary revealed stab wounds as the cause of death. Formal identification is still being awaited, and the case is being handled by officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
