CHAOS hit the underground system at rush-hour on Friday when for the Oyster card system failed.

It is the second time this month Tube stations have been hit by problems with the cards.

Passengers at Canary Wharf were told not to "touch in and out" at the sensors but to walk through the open barriers.

A message on the Transport for London website said: "We believe that this problem, like our last one, resulted from incorrect data tables being sent out by our contractor, Transys.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our passengers."

TfL said some passengers would be charged the full £4, but these would be reimbursed.

The previous problem happened on a Saturday morning, but this is the first time it has impacted on weekday rush-hour passengers.

- The Jubilee line is suffering minor delays due to an earlier signal failure at Wembley Park.
