Review: fratellis at the indigo2
THERE was something for everyone at the Indigo2 last night.
Sam Sparro and The Fratellis were heading the star-studded bill for the recorded ITV2 event. But it was opening act N.E.R.D that started the evening off with a bang.
The Indigo2, the little brother of The O2 Arena, certainly offers something different and is a great venue for live bands, with a perfect sound system.
N.E.R.D, Pharrell Williams' band famous for hits like She Wants to Move and Rock Star, proved a fantastic start to the night.
The band deserved ten out of ten for their performance. Nine for the music and an extra point for allowing good looking girls on the stage for the last few songs.
Sam Sparro on the other hand - Black and Gold aside - was lacklustre. A bit like Wham without George Michael.
The Fratellis were solid and played a few of the classics, leaving fans happy. Their new tunes may not have the bouncy factor of the old ones, but were good.
But they never quite made it into top gear.
Maybe the rumours that N.E.R.D stole their beer were true because there was a certain sulkiness to their performance.
It was always going to differ from N.E.R.D's explosive show, but I felt that after the raw energy of the support act, the Glasgow trio never reached a peak.
In short. a mixed night of music at the Indigo2. Bemused Fratellis fans watching N.E.R.D, N.E.R.D fans left flat by The Fratellis, and everyone confused by Sam Sparro.
