Putting on the satc glitz

Celebrities among other guests attended a pre-show party of Sex And The City held at CityBunker in Canary Wharf last week. Raksha Malde-Kara reports

The fashion-savvy It-crowd had it all glammed up for the occasion, donning their best frocks for the pre-screening bash of the highly-anticipated film.

All the glamour stops were pulled out as everyone wanted to look as good as our favourite foursome for the glitzy occasion.

Heels were vertiginous, outfits theatrical. This was the place to be seen.

The party was thrown by fan of the show Zaraah Abrahams, ex-Coronation Street actress and finalist in reality television show Dancing On Ice. Familiar faces who attended the event included EastEnders Gus alias Mohammed George, Lindi Mngaza from The Apprentice, former Blue Peter presenter Diane Louise Jordan, Tim Vincent, actress Olivier Hallinan from Julie Burchill’s Sugar Rush and singer Omar Simon.

Zaraah, who is currently filming Waterloo Road for BBC 1, held the event to raise funds for a seven-year-old girl battling a brain tumour.

After enjoying lavish cocktails, a buffet and shopping at specially created mini boutiques selling handbags and luxury products, the guests then teetered off in their high heels to the adjacent Cineworld cinema where they watched the special screening of SATC.

The film, which sees friends Carrie (Sarah-Jessica Parker), Samantha, (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) continuing to juggle work, relationships and motherhood in their 40's, has been a box office smash.

It's good to see them back.
