Danny dyer fails to make the final cut
DANNY Dyer revealed he had been cut from the role of Bill Sikes when he paid a visit to Canary Wharf’s barbershop.
The outspoken actor was favourite for the part in the upcoming production of Oliver!, which is receiving attention through the BBC’s I’d Do Anything search for a Nancy. Danny, who was getting a trim in The Gentry in Cabot Place West, said: “It’s a bit gutting really. I just got the call, I was down to the last two.”
The part is rumoured to have been given to Nick Knowles, from DIY SOS, a surprising choice due to his lack of acting experience.
But Dyer, from Canning Town, has more than enough to keep him busy.
Following a successful run at the Almeida Theatre of Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming, he is set to star alongside Mischa Barton in film Malice In Sunderland.
“It’s like Alice In Wonderland but more trippy. I’m a rabbit, but I’m Mischa Barton’s cabby as well. I’m doing a thing for Bravo as well, called Danny’s Underworld. It’s looking back at old villains and showing how criminals have got no code of honour these days.
“They will come right up to your door and shoot you for no reason. I’m going to be going up to Liverpool and spending time with an undercover cop. He’s been doing it for six years and had to leave his wife and family behind.”
Dyer, who has appeared in The Football Factory and Outlaw, recently appeared on ITV gameshow All Star Mr And Mrs, which included a rare appearance from his long-term partner and mother to his two daughters, Joanne Mas.
He said: “My missus has never wanted to do stuff like that, and then she says she wants to go on one of the cheesiest shows out there and talk about us as a couple to Fern and Phil.
“We have a volatile relationship, we’d had a fight just before going on the show. But she came across really well in the end.”
Danny is also set to begin filming this summer on horror film Doghouse, a film about women zombies turning the tables on men. His co-stars have yet to be announced but don’t expect Matt Di Angelo to be on the credits.
“They wanted that Matt Di Angelo, you know that one off Strictly Come Dancing, to be in it? I said no way. But we gave him an audition, and well, that was that. He got shown the door.”
Danny will be returning in a few weeks for the official launch party of The Gentry salon on West India Quay.

Mischa Barton's cabby - WOW! It says something about Mr Dyer's acting ability (or rather, lack of) when Nick Knowles - A NON ACTOR - wins the part.

DANNY DYER , oh yeah !! finest actor by far ... never heard of matt di whatsit ... the only reason dan didnt get the part of bill sykes was because he voiced his opinion on the nancy's - nothing to do with his acting ability ( which is class by the way ) love him to bits adulthood was excellent , cant wit for malice and city rats ( which i attended the screening of ) excellnt film , good luck danny luv ya xxx
